Full Time • The Woodlands, TX
Reports to:  Café Manager 

Hours: 4 - 6 hours per week

Summary of Position:  The Assistant Café Manager will be responsible for supporting the Café Manger in providing excellent customer service, supervising baristas, and developing the overall culture and service of The Crossing Café. The Assistant Café Manager will primarily be responsible for recruiting, scheduling, supervising café baristas, and maintaining an exemplary culture of service. Assisting the Café Manager by working to incorporate effective practices that create a customer centered atmosphere is a primary focus. Included in these duties will be the responsibility for maintaining the overall appearance and functionality of the café. The Assistant Café Manager(s) must be well informed of and exemplify the values of The Crossing. The nature of this position will require the ability organize, carry out plans, lead and collaborate with others, and provide a culture of excellent of service. 


Principal Job Responsibilities: 

  • Understand and demonstrate the values of The Crossing Church. 
  • Assist the Café Manager by upholding the values and purposes of the Café as described by the Manager. 
  • Able to work every other Sunday morning or one service each Sunday.
  • Recruit and train café baristas. 
  • Develop and maintain an atmosphere of client friendly servers that provide a quality experience and product. 
  • Seek to maintain a culture of continuous improvement.  
  • Maintain positive, open, and collaborative relationships with staff leadership, ministry teams, lay leaders, and congregants.
  • Participate in training sessions with the Café Manager as required.

Technical Skills 

  • Willingness and desire to learn and serve others. 
  • Ability to assess and determine actions that will improve service to customers.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn effective coffee shop or café practices, and ability to train 
  • Ability to prepare and serve coffee beverages ranging from simple to more elaborate, and to train others.  
  • Interpersonal skillset necessary to collaborate and develop teams around a cohesive vision
  • Applicable knowledge of and ability to utilize given technologies to facilitate excellence in customer service. 
      


 General Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working in or managing aspects of a coffee shop (café)
  • Knowledge of coffee beverages and skills required of an effective Barista.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others. 
  • Strong time-management skills and multitasking ability 

General Physical Requirements: 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to: 


  • The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.


Employment Requirement:  All Staff must be a member or become a member of The Crossing Church upon employment.
